Training on Climate Change Adaptation and Environmental Monitoring for the staffs of Ministry of Tourism currently underway!

Two sessions of the training which began on the 11th of February have being completed to date. The training will resume on 21st of February with a field trip and continue on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of February.

The purpose of this training is to build capacity of the staff of Ministry of Tourism to bring climate change and related impacts and environmental issues to the forefront of policy and decision making. Further, the training will also enhance the skill of the staff on conducting environmental related monitoring of the tourist facilities.

As part of the training consultancy, the existing operations and mandates of the relevant sections of the Ministry was also reviewed. The purpose of doing this was to identify appropriate areas where the recommendations from consultancies previously conducted by TAP could be incorporated to strengthen the environmental competence of the Ministry. The training will also focus on delivering knowledge about these new aspects.

Ministry of Tourism, TAP and its partners hope that the training and related consultancy will strengthen monitoring, planning and formulation of policies and standards by the Ministry of Tourism.
